The BMW X6, a true testament as on different perspectives, people who wandered the stars everyday, gazing upon the universe scouring for answers as to what constitutes space and time, digging their heads into infinite calculations and equations of quantum electrodynamics and measuring, observing the relationships between positrons and electrons; but at the very same time, they failed in classes, they just couldn't care much about their sobering wives, perhaps they couldn't afford a family of five or pay water bills, their backyards maybe filled with rubbish and their gardens untrimmed. They couldn't cope with a lot of the things we do in reality, but deep down, we all know there's something truly magnificent about these beings that draws them into the boundaries of sheer lunacy or in other words, geniuses.
Claimed to be the first ever Sports Coupe SUV, BMW engineers had created something we've never seen, something we just couldn't generalize or categorize. They've taken a generic SUV, say the X5 with a standard 4x4 chassis with room to accommodate 5 person plus adequate room for luggage at the back, and chopped off, pressed down the rear section creating a coupe, grand tourer-like sloping roof, leaving us pointless on what are they actually up to.

There's only one reason for BMW to do the X6, to create something we've never thought we needed, a niche for short, and market it to make every other SUVs on the road sound boring, looked slow and outright embarrassing to be seen driving one. The sloping roof thou does its job of looking 'sporty', it completely destroys the practicality of an SUV, headroom was slashed, hence the seats had to be slanted downwards slightly, for six footers to sit lower, and that kills the legroom and luggage space at the back. They've basically taken a sports car, say something like a Nissan 350Z, plonk it onto a Pajero, then added another 2 doors to take out the structural stiffness of 2 door sports cars, and most annoyingly of all, they've decided that a cup holder and storage compartment placed at the center of the rear bench for perhaps iPODs and cameras are more important than Grandpa, for the modern family of mom, dad, brother and sister.
The X6, is an SUV that has very limited headroom, legroom (for it's wheelbase) and limited luggage space at the rear, a rear bootlid (thanks to the sports car profile) of around four and a half feet high, reversing the car is a pain in the arse, and it only seats four person.
However, that's what BMW intentionally wish to create. They want to create an SUV that could go off-roading, yet doesn't shout 'I'm a family man'; or they want to create a sports car that seats four rather comfortably, but could ram up road dividers, crushing over squirrels on B roads chasing Imprezas and Mitusbishi Evolutions. This suggests all the sacrifices made for the rear passengers, must be pointing towards something. Yes, a rewarding drive for the one who knows how to appreciate an Ultimate Driving Machine.
There are plenty of work being done back in Munich, Germans, unlike Japanese, (who would create Type-Rs and then using a torsion beam for costs savings) won't settle for all out marketing ploys, there must be some tricks up their sleeves for supporting their claims, and the X6, is truly, a sports SUV. With front seats that hugs the driver, there's also a very unique 'knee pad' placed at the left and right edges of the gear shift console, allows the supple leather to cushion the driver and passengers knees whilst dealing with hard maneuvers or slaloms or hairpin 180 degree drifts.
